MOOT COURT AND EXPERT TESTIMONY AS REQUIREMENT FOR MSC (FORENSIC SCIENCE) AT UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA

Every UTM MSc (Forensic Science) student is required to appear and testify in a moot court for graduating. The students are given a mock case to investigate during the first semester of candidature, and they will play their roles as CSI team leader, Investigating officer (IO) as well as  forensic experts. Upon analyzing all evidence, they are expected to produce several reports namely CSI's, IO's and Chemist's reports.

During the moot court session, students will testify, according to assigned individual roles.Once again, the moot court session is conducted with the help of Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM). These are several photographs during the mock crime scene and moot court session:














LEARNING ABOUT CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION AT UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA

One of the most important parts in Forensic Science is crime scene investigation (CSI). These are several photographs depicting CSI training conducted  as a part of our MSc (Forensic Science) Programme in collaboration with Polis Diraja Malaysia.













FORENSIC SCIENCE PROGRAMME AT UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA

This is a 3-semester full-time programme comprising a total of 42 credits which   include five core courses (12 credits), one elective course (3 credits), one research methodology course ( 3 credits),  one University compulsory course (3 credits) and Forensic research project and dissertation (21 credits). 

The following is a typical course distribution for the MSc Taught Course and Research (Mixed Mode) in Forensic Science: 



Admission requirements:
  • A Bachelor Degree in Chemistry or Forensic Science or in a related field with good honours from any recognized institution of Higher learning or
  • An equivalent Bachelor Degree with at least two years working experience which relevant to Forensics.
